1 dead after Plant City police chase ends in major Harden Boulevard crash

At least one woman is dead after a Plant City police pursuit ended in a fatal crash on Harden Boulevard in Lakeland.

The Lakeland Police Department was actively investigating a fatal crash on Harden Boulevard near the Polk Parkway, as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, an LPD spokesperson confirmed. All lanes of Harden Boulevard were closed.

Plant City police began a chase around 9:30 a.m. Thursday when they received information of a woman possibly being kidnapped, according to Plant City Police Captain Al Van Duyne. By the time the police department was informed the woman was safe, Duyne said the crash had already occurred.

The crash involved multiple vehicles and one confirmed death, according to the police department. Early reports are four people were transported to the hospital, including the suspect. One woman died at the hospital.
