CJ Ingram, son of former UF two-sport standout, commits to Florida ... but in which sport?

Florida basketball landed a commitment from one of the top recruits in the country — who also happens to have local ties and ties with the Florida Gators.
CJ Ingram announced Monday on social media he's pledging to UF basketball's 2025 class. A 6-foot-6 wing player, Ingram is entering his fourth year at Hawthorne High after playing over the summer with the Orlando Oak Ridge High basketball team.
Ingram's father, Cornelius Ingram, played both football and basketball at Florida in 2004 before focusing solely on football for the rest of his career. Cornelius Ingram began his UF career as a quarterback before switching to tight end.
Per 247Sports, Ingram is the 93rd-rated player in the 2024 class and 11th-rated small forward. He earned Gainesville Sun boys basketball player of the year honors at Hawthorne, averaging 24 points and 3.7 steals per game.
Ingram chose Florida over offers from Arizona State, Cincinnati, Dayton and Georgetown.
"CJ Ingram is among the most physically impressive dudes in the class," 247.com national recruiting analyst Eric Bossi wrote last May. "He can play out on the wing, he can play as a small ball four, and he is just scratching at the surface of some serious upside. While Ingram can be a bit up and down with his production, there's a lot to like with him if he decides to pursue hoops full-time."
Like his father, CJ played both football and basketball at Hawthorne. On the gridiron, he's started at quarterback the last two seasons. In 2023, he passed for 2,950 total yards and 38 TDs. Florida coach Billy Napier offered him a scholarship to play wide receiver at UF, but for now, it appears Ingram's focus is on basketball.
