The Sioux Falls Little League baseball team is headed to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the Little League World Series, after a 6-1 win over Missouri to claim the Midwest Little League Baseball Championship.

Griffin Sommer anchored the team on the mound, pitching into the sixth inning, striking out seven and only allowing one earned run, which came in the sixth inning.

Offensively, Sioux Falls did their work early, scoring three runs in the second inning, adding a run in the fourth and two more in the top of the sixth to take a commanding 6-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth.

Missouri, a team known for making comebacks, scored one run in the bottom of the sixth but was unable to add any more.

The Little League World Series will start Wednesday.
