Two pedestrians killed crossing South Florida Avenue in Lakeland late Wednesday

Two pedestrians were struck and killed while attempting to cross South Florida Avenue in Lakeland on Wednesday night. Lakeland police responded to reports of a crash at South Florida Avenue and Imperial Boulevard at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday.
A white Toyota Yaris driven by 22-year-old Rexyanna Honors was headed south on Florida Avenue. Two unidentified pedestrians were in a crosswalk attempting to walk east across the road.
Both pedestrians were struck by the front of the Yaris.
Lakeland police and fire departments, Polk County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures but the two pedestrians died: a 46-year-old and 54-year-old. No other identification has been released by LPD pending family notification.

Honors stayed at the scene of the crash and was not injured.
Florida Avenue was shutdown for approximately four hours to allow the scene of the crash to be processed for the investigation.
